BBQ.

we attended the world championship bbq contest last weekend. it was manly a carnival, we were a little confused and thought you would go around to each tent and try all the bbq...however that wasn't the case. you had to have special invite tickets to the tents. we looked into the tents and it seems like there wasn't even food. it was confusing. each bbq tent had live music & lots of beer & cowboy hats. we participated in just the hats. i'm pretty sure we didn't have as much fun as those that participated in both. good thing here was free bbq sandwiches. so free is always good.

after our discovering we made our way to the carnival for a fried snickers & twinkie.

it was a hilar texas experience.
texas loves texas.
we have tickets to the houston rodeo/keith urban concert next weekend...the texas livin continues.

San Antonio.

the Alamo city also known as San Antonio was our second stop.
we explored the natural bridge caverns.
i felt like i was in goony's.
mom said it was like the oregon caves, however i've  never been even though i was born and raised in oregon. whoops missed that one.

mom was loving the texan pride everywhere we turned.

how creepy are these caverns?

pictures don't do this place justice.
it was incredible.
our tour guide on the other hand not so much.

we ended the day at a local spot ...sorry but the river walk had chain restaurants... yikes. cheap quality overly priced restaurants. i counted 5 blisters from new sandals i got. bad mistake. and we hadn't eaten from 8am-3pm. needless to say i was tired and starved.

praise la gloria's for making amazing authentic street food from interior mexico.
literally the best mexican. gosh dang it i'm still thinking of the corn and the tortillas.

this corn was so sweet. the juice squirted across the table when you bit in.
it was amazing.

five words to sum-up San Antonio:
touristy.
western.
mexican.
historic.
chains.
