Hallows-Eve.

Halloween is by far my favorite holiday....BUT i love christmas traditions...so that's a hard one.
but whatevs they are both great for diff reasons.
my fav thing about halloween is the fact that you can be anyone you want to be for one night...or two if your cool and invited to two parties...or really popular if you're invited to three parties!
in my guess i had to do my own party cause i didn't get invited to any.
not talking about unpopular self right now. i'm talking about how much i love dressing up as anyone I WANT! and eating spooky treats.

okay so this my 2nd party...i think that means it's annual?
what does that say about my party planning self? does it mean i'm controlling or i'm fun?
when you plan parties you're in control so that's nice, but then you're viewed as fun so that's even nicer.

so this year we did pretty much the same thing as last year because it was so fun i thought why not do the same thing?

the crow. diablo. andrew didn't understand why he couldn't have a cooler costume lol
our neighbor dropped off some halloween treats right when we were wanting to take pictures of our costumes before it got dark and our guests arrived. thank goodness for neighbors.

pippa was the perfect sleeping beauty.
andrew loves dressing up. he would never come out and say that.
but i can tell in his eyes with i'm applying his makeup.
he secretly shares the enjoyment of dressing up just like me.
it's really funny cause he acts like OH GOSH what am i going to be THIS year...
i'm like OH GOSH don't act like you don't love it.

being maleficent for a night was magnificent.
funny background on the costume.

we teach the 10&11 year old sunday school class.
one of our kids goes to a movie pretty much every weekend just like us.
so before we start our lesson and killing time we always ask the class how their weekend has been.
the sweet little girl always gives us her review on the movie she saw.
she told us about maleficent.
i could pronounce it.
she kept working with me whereas andrew was so bugged that i could say it.
long story short we told her we would see it since she said it was her favorite movie that she has seen so far this summer.
we saw it & i was obsessed with Angelina in it.
after the movie we walked out and i was like ANDREW I HAVE IT!
he was like have what?!
our halloween costumes!!!!
(it was august.)

Halloween.

Did you know that halloween is somewhat of an awk night for people in my stage of life?
BECAUSE

we don't go to frat parties and dress like sluts:
"Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." - Who said this?

we don't have kids and we are no longer kids... so we aren't going trick-or-treating

so what's someone to do on halloween night that's in our situation? (i decided watching a scary movie wasn't going to cut it.)

so i hosted a party.
costumes included.
duh.
&
i told everyone to bring a spooky dish.

before Mr. headed off to work i made some ghost cakes.
started the day off spooky.

i made some spider cookies for my young women.

soooooo ummmm i tried to make a "cute" halloween cake BUT then it turned out to be spoooooooky.
i was okay with it because halloween is the only time when "spooky" is cute.
it actually tasted really good. we kept eating it. and eating it.

after that party ended
we had another party...
a pool party (because its still in the 80's in October)
spooky night swim with smeared face paint

Now for some of the costumes:

p.s. missed my nephews and nieces this year, BUT at least i got some "happy halloween" text decked out in their gear. only thing is i'm just a little disturbed why i didn't get any halloween pix from the cordon kids?!?
