In Action.

Here is a little video I made for the multi media portion of the report.
Finding a song to match was such a struggle!
The End.

Pre Classic Event.

When I found out that was going to be apart of the media team for the Pre Classic I was so excited! It's one of those special events you always want to attend, so to be apart of it was an awesome experience and to receive SCHOOL CREDIT for it was an added bonus.
 This was my group!
I loved it that everyone in the group was super excited to be apart of the event
and knew how cool of opportunity we had.
Hey there RED and GREEN badge, we loved that we got these to get around all over!

Paige at work getting ready to escort some athletes to the media tent!
Here is a little snib-bit from the diamond league about the event:

The meeting is named for the legendary Steve Prefontaine, America ’s greatest distance runner at the time of his death in 1975 at age 24. Pre’s remarkable life was the subject of an award-winning documentary, “Fire On The Track”, and two major motion pictures, “Prefontaine”, released by Disney in January 1997 (two “thumbs up” from Siskel & Ebert), and “Without Limits”, released by Warner Bros. in September 1998 (named as one of the  Top 10 films of 1998 by Time magazine and the New York Times.)
The 2012 meeting on Saturday, June 2, will be the 38th annual edition, with

NIKE providing title sponsorship for 29 consecutive years.
Attendance at the meeting, held each year at historic Hayward Field in Eugene , Oregon , has traditionally been the largest in the United States , with crowds of over 12,000.  The past 15 Pre Classics have been standing-room-only, and another sell-out is anticipated this year.

Truth be told I have never actually attended the Pre Classic...maybe that's why I was overly excited to finally get to semi-attend. I had the best seat (you couldn't just see the sweat you could smell it...that kind of "best seat"). I mean escorting the fastest man in the world was pretty cool. The muscles were bulging and no ounce of fat to be seen. I tried not to stare, but it's kind of hard not to when this speeding freak of nature is in front of you.
It was fun to to be in the action, I think that's why I love event planning so much. It's a completely different experience being apart of an event then watching one.  I got to hold back press from attacking  Liu Xiang (aka fastest hurdler in the world). I literally had to grab one guy and stop him from following Liu onto the track. I was told that he is the Justin Bieber of China, girls were going CRAZY for him.

I got to experience being apart of the journalist life. I don't think I will ever be a journalist now, cross that one off the list of job prospects. They are ruthless, "GET ME MY STATS", they would yell at us. GEEEZ calm down, the stats have been on the screen for 8 minutes I don't think having them on paper is that much better! Man, oh man, the pressure of GETTING THE STORY! There was media from across the world some of the few were Kenya, Paris, China, and NYC.  Passing out their credentials was somewhat of a struggle, for starts I couldn't understand them pronouncing their name and second didn't know how it was spelled. Woops.
Way up in the media box was more passing out event results.
AND the view was great too!
Well that wraps up my Pre Classic event!
It's opportunities like these that make me think I might possibly miss college.

Pre Classic Press Conference.

This last weekend I had an awesome opportunity of being apart of one of the best events in Track&Field. Friday was the press conference where all the media came to pick up their credentials and interview the top athletes before the event started.
Nike of course had Pre Classic gear for the athletes!
Food lounge for the press, agents, coaches, and athletes.
Interview questions from the head of the Pre Classic before the press got their turn.
Half the room was a lounge and half was the press conference.
It was a great experience to be involved with the behind the scenes.
Part two of the Pre Classic weekend coming tomorrow...

Prefontaine Classic Internship.

I am so excited that I got an internship with the Pre Classic. It's a huge event in Eugene and brings world class athletes to track town USA. For those who are not track fans, it's one of the premier track and field meets in the United States. Every year it draws a world caliber field to compete at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in EugeneOregon. (via wikipedia) AND for more info on the event check out runner's space.
My group is in charge of press conference the day before the meet. On the actual day we will be heading up the social media and will be Tweeting away in the media tent. I am going to be the Chief Assistant photographer and working with photographers from Paris and NYC (UM SO EXCITED). I will be working down on the track, getting up close and personal with the athletes. I can't believe I get to work with the media from around the world, this is such an opportunity that I am so grateful for.
At the end of the term I will be putting together a multi-media piece of the event as well as a report with my group on what worked well and what didn't from our plan that I will post.

Earth Day Displays.

Earth Day is this month and look at what Anthropologie has been doing for their window displays in honor of it. It's all ocean theme, super cool. Loving it, so I thought I should share it!

The End.

I wanted to recap my internship this term at Anthropologie. The term has come to an end aka I am really sad the internship is over. The drives up to Portland weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. I loved creating the spring displays with the other interns from the downtown store. This was my first internship and didn't know what to expect. I am so happy that I got the opportunity to work at Anthropologie and create pretty things. I have learned that Anthro is the store it is because of the uniqueness of their displays. No other store has the details that Anthro does. I highly recommend doing an internship with Anthropologie if you ever get the chance to apply.
Displays, displays, life as an intern  at Antrho.
Painting and more painting continued all term long.
Doing some labels.
Staying hydrated in the hot art room.
Have you ever used a type-writer? It's hard. The end.
Some home displays.
Front of store displays. Notice some cactus?
I typed labels then cut out the wire
then hand sewed some itty-bitty flowers for that Anthro detailed touch.
I have been told all three years of college to get an internship, it was more like GET AN INTERNSHIP NOW or else!!!!! I didn't know where on earth to get one. I remember when I was in Seattle for my cousin's mission homecoming and we stopped at Anthro for a quick look at the sale rack. I saw a sign saying, "HIRING DISPLAY INTERNS." I thought- oh, wow that would be sooooo coooool, BUT never thought I would ever apply let alone get the offer. Then this year I knew I had to get an internship and remembered the sign I saw years prior, so I called the nearest Anthro and asked if they were hiring interns. Long story short, got an interview and the rest is history (I know it's totally cheesy saying "the rest is history" but always wanted to say it).
P.S. Any ideas of where to get an internship in event planning?

Final Production,

So it was employee appreciation aka I went a little crazy on the one time HUGE discount. Basically it was all free. I mean $200 pillows for $20 I THINK SO!
I felt totally silly walking out with two huge bags, BUT if only you knew the savings. I can hear my grandpa saying, "SHOW ME THE MONEY YOU SAVED?" I never knew how to reply to that question and I think that was the point.
Here are the corals I was talking about from my previous internship post. Don't they look cool?
AND here are the cactus I was working on. We made them all in different shades of green.
Super fun spin on spring!
The flowers we sewed by hand, super easy once I got the hang of it.
The white pots were bought from Ikea and then some were the
basic clay pots from Home Depot only 99 cents then painted white.
The flowers are made from wax and tissue paper!
Last week was the home move for the Bridgeport store and this week I was at the downtown store for their home move (more on that later). Next week is apparel move,
which should be fun to do all new spring apparel displays.
Well I must get to my Econ studies (so dreading the mid-term Saturday, kill me now)
