Leslie Anne Whipple is the mother of seven. Mother in-law of five. Grandmother of four. It's hard to describe my mom. In some ways she is indescribable because she is just so...my mom. She is the one that made me paper-sack lunches and took me to school everyday. She is the one that makes the best cinnamon rolls. She is the one who says your beautiful even when you don't feel like it. My mom gave me all confidence that I could do anything and that I could become anything.
My mom in her 20's, so cute!
My mom never pampers herself, I have never known her to get her hair done, pedicures or massages. NEVER. She always wants to spend money on her kids and not on herself.
It's like she feels guilty for pampering herself. Whenever I get her See's candy (her favorite treat) she always shares it or gives to dad and I have to tell her NO IT'S JUST FOR YOU!!!
Me and mom on my blessing day!
She is 30 here with her 5th kid...
CRAZY to think about myself at 30 having five kids, there's no way!
My mom's laugh is loud REALLY loud. Her laugh cracks me up. My mom doesn't listen to anyone about style or fashion, whenever I tell her she should wear something different she says I KNOW WHAT LOOKS GOOD ON ME. She rarely goes out to eat because she says she can make it better...her way of saying this is: CAN'T SAY IT'S MY FAVORITE.
She is pregnant with Joe here, can you say ready to pop?
Picking blueberries is a memory with mom since I was little.
My mom always supported me and Andrew, she liked Andrew more than I did at times...the dating years were a bit of a struggle and when we were broken-up (we were young and immature, so give us a break) my mom would always say I MISS ANDREW! When Andrew would spoil me she would say I WISH ANDREW WAS MY BOYFRIEND!
My mom is VERY supportive. She would support you in anything even if it was a crazy idea. She is spiritual and loves talking about life. She is a happy, easy-going, loving woman.
She loves people and super open.
My mom tells me not to be hard on myself. My mom was never the mom to go on shopping day with, but she always the mom that had dinner ready after a long day, always there to talk with, always there to laugh with. My mom taught me to be welcoming and to love. To be a hostess and make people feel at home. She made our house a home growing-up. As I have gotten older I have realized how much she sacrificed for her family. She never put herself first and rarely got thanked for it. So now it's my time to say THANK YOU for giving me life, a home, and for never giving up even when it was really hard being a mother.
Happy Mother's Day!
Love,
Lauren
