My Birthday Boy.

Mr. had a birthday... i tried to make it special without spending a ton of $$$$. i realized that Mr. is simple and easy. i don't know why it took me 5 scrap books, 3 scavenger hunts, 2 surprise birthday parties, and 1 quilt later to realize this.

the only thing he wanted on his big day was to sleep in, eat cinnamon rolls, and watch football. so i made sure he got everything he asked for...and more?

we headed to the farm for a couple hours. i had him open presents through out the day, which made for some anticipation.

i always pull this plate and mug out every birthday. every single birthday because just in case you didn't know YOU ARE SPECIAL when its your birthday.

pippa is so cute with her head up for a fa fa cheek kiss.

when i was in oregon my mom bought andrew a bunch of gifts for me to bring home and wrap. he loves opening presents. he doesn't like gift bags, in fact he thinks they should be outlawed. i learned this while dating him. he always wrapped gifts and always had a bow. a sticker bow, but a bow nonetheless.

pippa wasn't to happy about not getting any gifts. she was happy about eating the wrapping paper though.

so Dr. Laura is a bit of an inside joke between us. i'm really into amazon right not so i decided to get him a dr. L book on c.d. while he drives...he's in his car a lot with work, so i thought it was a perfect fit.

after opening some morning presents we watched football and then headed to the farm for an afternoon adventure (this was 99.9% my idea the .01% is Mr. agreeing to it even though it was his birthday).

there is this place called Riley's Farm that's in Oak Glen...which is an apple hill with tons of farms. it was amazing weather. it's only 54 miles away. a perfect hour getaway from the desert. we were going to go to San Diego, but then came back to reality that only one of us is working and we aren't inheriting a fortune, unless one of our relatives is a billionaire without us knowing? Mr & I joke that are parents are actually rich but they are just keeping it a secret and then one day they are going to come clean and confess their richness, which would be cool and shocking.

did you know that i've always wanted a horse?
really though.
my parents have a barn and the previous owner had a horse named Cindy. i know this because there is a huge sign in the stall with the name C I N D Y on it. i thought it would have been cool to have a horse because we had a barn and everything. my mom had a horse growing up and i always wanted one.

let's talk about this pot-pie for a minute. it was amazing. my cousin in-law, Tyler, told us about this beauty. he said people people cry over how good. tears were shed over this.

then pippa gave Mr. her gift. a little story book of her 1st year. Mr. said it was his favorite. he read it 4 times that night, he's a sucker.

for a birthday dessert i whipped up some scotchies. a scotchie tower/ "cake"
now for the beloved recipe for all my favorite readers:

mix in a pot:
1 cup sugar
1 cup light or dark karo syrup
1 cup creamy peanut butter
once it comes to a soft boil remove from stove and add
5 1/2-6 cups of rice krispies
stir and put in a 9 by 13 sprayed pan. push down to make firm. if that makes sense.
then set aside for some chocolate melting.
1 cup choc chips 1 cup butterscotch chips (you can do less if you want)
microwave for 2 min. stir. 1 more mins stir. continue until its melted.
then spread on top of scotchies.
put in fridge until the chocolate is hard.
then cut away and enjoy some scotch ;)

it was a fun day. one of those really great days. where it goes as planned. i love mr. and glad he goes along with my birthday crazzzzze. birthdays are special and i like to make them special. i hate when people say they're are just any ordinary day, but PEOPLE your WRONG. birthdays are a big deal.

my mom made birthdays a big deal. we would wake up with a special breakfast treat before school and then when we came home for school the house was decorated with banners, balloons, streamers, wrapped presents and a cake. for dinner we could order anything from my mom's "menu"...anything we wanted she would make for our special day. we got to choose the dish ware too...looking back I remember what I use to order.

for a long time it was Karla's curry casserole and lemon meringue pie. and for awhile it was teriyaki chicken and spicy green bean dinner and german chocolate cake. also i ordered BBQ chicken pizza and ice cream cake.

those would be the three dishes i would order with the "black dishes". my grandma Chilton had sets and sets of beautiful china that she purchased over the years they lived in Japan. my mom inherited this set that was black&gold trim with black goblets. i would always request the "black dishes" for my special day.

birthdays are special. remember that.

love you mr. thanks for being so sweet and so simple. two things i need.
